Feb 5th - Samantha now rides her scooter to and from school almost every day, often with her friends. She recently went to her first birthday party, and was the object of much attention. It seems every day she becomes more independent, and can amuse herself, playing and singing. Her ability to communicate and interact with others continues to improve, as does her math skills. Her teachers have noted how she is well-liked, and frequently gives hugs and encouragement to upset classmates. Sadly, her Great-Grandmother passed away in January, denying Samantha the chance to meet someone with such deep links to her own history. |

Jan 2nd - It's been a fantastic holiday season; Samantha has been a gracious hostess, helping set the table and serve everybody. She also loves being involved in the kitchen. Not only did she assist in baking cookies, she learned about the spirit of giving by going with her mother to deliver them to neighbors. And she's been singing carols, with recognizable words and melodies. With the holidays over, we're looking forward to a return to the school routine, and continued growth and development. It's obvious she's missed her friends over the break, and speaks of them often. There also seems to be an increased awareness of clocks and how to tell time. |
